We’ve never come this way before
But now we’re in:
Uncharted waters,
Undiscovered lands,
Unplowed ground, and
Unprecedented times.
My world has never stopped before
But now I see
Deserted pavements,
Abandoned airports,
Empty restaurants, and
Vacant buildings.
We’ve never known this pain before
So many feel
Searing separation,
Prolonged isolation,
Unsustainable stress, and
Unspeakable sadness.
We’ve never felt so lost before
But now it’s time –
To admit our failures,
Confess our weakness,
Acknowledge our need, and
Accept our frailty.
We’ve never trod this path before
But it could be:
A road to hope,
A journey to freedom,
A trail of justice, and
wrongs forgiven.
We’ve never had the space before
But now we can:
Revisit values,
Reset priorities,
Reinstate rest, and
Restore our faith.
What will we choose in seasons new?
What will it be;
Will we stand still?
Will we press on?
Will we look back, or
Will we look UP?
We’ve never walked this route before
But someone has;
A sovereign God
Who’s seen the end
Before the start, and
Knows our hearts.
And this dark road leads back to Him
The Morning Star,
The Brightest Light,
Our Beacon shining
In the night – He’s
Ever close.
Yes, we are on the edge of spring
Winter will end,
And time will heal;
New life will come!
We’ll see the Sun, and
Come forth whole.
